The towns of Provincetown, Truro, and Wellfleet and Eastham have come together to educate the public about solar photovoltaic installations, reduction of carbon emissions, and energy conservation on the outer cape. An integrated joint program has been developed and proposed to the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) for the “Solarize Plus” program.
The program is centered on grassroots outreach and public communication driven by volunteer efforts with modest state support.
The Outer Cape Solarize Plus program will be partnering with Cape and Islands Self-Reliance for the portion of our program related to mini-splits, heat pumps, and air source hot water heaters. We will be partnering with the Cape Light Compact on the Energy Efficiency portion of the program.
Outer Cape Solarize Plus will be a volunteer effort. We have formed a steering committee of interested citizens and members of the Energy Committees of our participating towns. This program is the first, of what we hope will be many, joint efforts of the Outer Cape Energy Committees.
