February 22 meeting in Wellfleet postponed until Friday, March 2, 6:30 PM at the COA.
Welcome to the Outer Cape Energize Program
Outer Cape Energize is part of the 2018 Solarize Mass program plus a lot more. We encourage the adoption of small-scale solar electricity systems through a grassroots educational campaign, driven mainly by local volunteers and terrific pricing from our selected vendor, AceSolarize. To sign up with them use our contact form on the right.
We will pair this with additional technologies aimed at reducing carbon emissions. We also include cost-effective conservation measures.
Our program is sponsored by the Towns of Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown and is designed to educate our fellow citizens about how to have both a greener way of life and save money in the process.
The program is being conducted under guidelines and with the support of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) is a publicly-funded agency dedicated to accelerating the success of clean energy technologies, companies, and projects in the Commonwealth.
We are holding a series of public outreach meetings in our communities throughout the Winter and Spring of 2018. Check our website or your local newspaper for a schedule of our events. Come hear about all these exciting ways in which you can help the planet and also save money. We will also be working directly with small businesses in our area.
Be sure to fill out the form on the right to stay informed and to participate in our program.
Our program has three parts. The first part encourages the installation of solar panels on homes and small businesses in our towns. Not only does this add to the production of green energy, but it is a money-making investment. We have a tiered pricing structure where the more people who install solar, the lower the price will be for all. We will be conducting a competitive procurement to select a Solar Vendor who can best serve our community.
The second part involves adopting technologies that replace the use of carbon-based fuels with less expensive green electricity. We will talk about mini-splits, air source heat pumps, air source hot water heaters and electric vehicles. This part will be conducted in partnership with Self Reliance. Self Reliance is a nonprofit that helps educates the Cape and Islands community on energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.
The final part of the program involves energy savings through weatherization and other conservation measures. It begins with a free home energy audit which provides a list of recommended improvements. If the homeowner, renter or small business decides to make any of these improvements, the Cape Light Compact will offer subsidies, often 75% or more, towards their cost. This part of the program will be conducted in partnership with the Cape Light Compact. The Cape Light Compact is a nationally recognized award-winning energy services organization operated by the 21 towns on Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard and by Dukes County. The Compact’s mission is to serve its 200,000 customers through the delivery of proven energy efficiency programs, effective consumer advocacy and renewable competitive electricity supply. Electricity purchased from the Compact is 100% green.
